| Your AFR station in the Wiregrass started in
1989. Asbury United Methodist Church was
instrumental in bringing this station to the area.
Bill Langford was our original manager.
 Debbie Stewart Irby came on board in the Winter
of 2002, and has been with us ever since. So many of
us enjoy the soothing sounds of Debbie's voice every
afternoon with her wisdom and wit on "The
River's
Edge". She always has someone new and interesting in
the studio for interviews with a wide variety of
Nationally known authors, artists, movie directors,
not to mention our local personalities, charities,
and artist, they're all important! We like to keep
you up to date on what's going on in the Wiregrass
politically, socially, and in our churches!
On Wednesday afternoons you can catch First
Baptist Church's Senior Pastor Dr. John Fain
imparting his wisdom and wit as well as he co-hosts
with Debbie, Thursdays is Pastor Jeff Knoll, The
Point Ministries, and Tuesdays you may find Eric
Greer from Westgate Church of Christ or Chaplain
Lamont Freeman. All different
personalities lending a great variety to the River's
Edge in the afternoon. |

| The Story is,
that this area got it's name "Wiregrass" because
long before it was developed, the land was covered
with...wiregrass, aka aristida sticta. Most
prevalent in the south, Alabama and Florida is known
